Driving tour of the Townships Trail

chemin des Cantons

The Townships Trail takes as its theme our American and British heritage. This itinerary covers 415 km and takes visitors through 31 municipalities. Take the Townships Trail, an all new 18-km driving trail through the heart of Sherbrooke, and discover the city and its region.

The heritage legacy of Sherbrooke is unique, very apparent in the architecture of the buildings and houses of the Vieux-Nord district, through the downtown area and in the Lennoxville borough.

The architecture of Sherbrooke prior to the 1920s, mostly of American and British influence and no Canadian styles to speak of, shows a very different look than the styles common to other Quebec cities and towns. Sherbrooke thus offers tourists, inside a well-defined area, an architectural heritage of high historical value.

A number of walls of Sherbrooke buildings have been transformed into giant murals that illustrate the many facets of the city's historical legacy.

Maison Wilson

The most beautiful in its category in Québec: 20th Century

In February of 2006, the Wilson House (1903) at 1073 Dominion Street, a creation of the architect C.E. White, was awarded the national prize of the house of the 20th century, in the context of the Historia TV network's series “Portes Ouvertes; Maison Passion”. The Wilson House is part of the beautiful Old North section of Sherbrooke, a peaceful neighbourhood with properties resplendent with trees and flowers.
