A classical music festival makes its début as a part of the University of Sherbrooke’s 8th Choral Music Summer School. 9 events will showcase the music of Brahms in concerts for voice only, choir, piano, or chamber music. A reading of his correspondence, a conference, and a round table will allow one and all to become acquainted with this composer and his works. To facilitate access to this eclectic program, the majority of the events will be offered free of charge in downtown Sherbrooke. Admission will be charged for some of the presentations ($).

The Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra (OSS), the third oldest orchestra in the province of Québec, after Montreal’s and Québec City’s, is considered by the Canada Council for the Arts to be one of the best regional Canadian orchestras. In 2005, the Eastern Township’s Awards Gala bestowed the OSS with the award for best non-profit organization of the year. The unique and cordial manner of the chef d’orchestre Stéphane Laforest and the quality of the talented musicians make every OSS performance shine. Sherbrooke’s Symphony Orchestra has been entertaining music-lovers in the Eastern Township’s region for 69 years; now’s the time for you to discover the pleasures of the OSS’s music! |
